Continue Browsing TripsThis 3 Days Tour from Fes to Marrakech is a great way to explore Morocco in a short time. You travel from the north to the south, passing mountains, valleys, and desert landscapes. Each day shows a different side of the country, from green forests and high Atlas peaks to the golden Sahara dunes.
The journey takes you through amazing places like Ifrane, Ziz Valley, and the Sahara desert near Merzouga. You will enjoy a camel ride, sleep in a desert camp, and visit beautiful canyons like Todra Gorge and Dades Valley. The tour also includes historical sites like Aït Benhaddou before crossing the High Atlas Mountains to end in Marrakech.
Your journey starts early from Fes. You leave the city and drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is Ifrane, a small and clean town known as “Little Switzerland” because of its European style houses and fresh air. It is a good place for photos and a short walk.
Next, you continue to Azrou, where you can visit the cedar forest and see wild monkeys. After that, you drive through Midelt and enjoy mountain views and small villages along the road. Later, you pass the beautiful Ziz Valley with thousands of palm trees and deep green landscapes.
In the afternoon, you arrive at Merzouga near the edge of the Sahara. Here, you ride camels into the desert and enjoy the golden sand dunes. At night, you stay in a desert camp, eat traditional food, and sleep under the stars.
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara Desert. After breakfast, you leave Merzouga and travel toward the mountains. Your first big stop is Todra Gorge, a deep canyon with high rock walls and a small river. It is a great place for walking and taking photos.
Then you continue through small Berber villages and reach the beautiful Dades Valley. This area is famous for its red mountains, winding roads, and peaceful views. You will stop at viewpoints to enjoy the scenery and take pictures.
At night, you stay in a hotel or riad in Dades Valley. Dinner is usually served with traditional Moroccan food while enjoying the quiet mountain atmosphere.
After breakfast, you leave Dades Valley and drive toward Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco” because many movies were filmed here. You can visit film studios or just enjoy the desert city views.
Next, you visit the famous kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is an old fortified village made of clay and looks like a movie set.
Then you cross the High Atlas Mountains through the beautiful Tizi n'Tichka Pass. The road offers amazing mountain views and small Berber villages along the way.
In the evening, you arrive in Marrakech, where your 3 days tour from Fes to Marrakech ends.
The tour includes long driving days, but we stop many times for photos, meals, and rest. The journey is comfortable and well planned.
Weather changes a lot between the desert, mountains, and cities. It is best to bring layered clothes for both warm and cold moments.
In the Sahara Desert, it can be very hot during the day and quite cold at night, especially in winter months.
We recommend wearing light and comfortable clothes during the day and warmer clothes for the evening in the desert camp.
You should bring some cash for lunches, drinks, tips, and small personal expenses along the way.
Internet and mobile signal can be weak or not available in desert areas, so be prepared to disconnect.
Sun protection is very important. Please bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for desert activities.
Some days start early in the morning to enjoy sunrise views and make the most of the itinerary.
Camel rides are safe and guided by locals, and the pace is slow and suitable for beginners.
Please respect local culture by dressing modestly, especially when visiting villages and traditional areas.
