We start the day early in the morning from Fes, usually around 7:00 to 8:00 AM. The drive takes you through the Rif Mountains, with beautiful views of forests, hills, and small traditional villages. There will be short stops along the way for photos or a coffee break.

We arrive in Chefchaouen around 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This city is known as the “Blue City” of Morocco because of its blue-painted streets and houses. The atmosphere is calm, peaceful, and very different from big cities.

After arrival, we begin exploring the old medina. You will walk through narrow blue streets, small shops, and local markets. We visit Uta el-Hammam Square, the heart of the city, and also the Kasbah, an old fortress with a small garden and museum.

At lunchtime, you can enjoy a meal in a local restaurant, often with rooftop views over the blue city and the mountains. It is a nice moment to relax and enjoy traditional Moroccan food.

After lunch, we visit Ras El Ma, a small natural spring where fresh water comes from the mountains. It is a peaceful place where locals sit and relax, and it is also good for photos.

You will then have free time to walk more in the blue streets, take pictures, or shop for souvenirs. If you want, you can also visit the Spanish Mosque viewpoint for a wide panoramic view of Chefchaouen and the mountains.

Know Before You Go – Chefchaouen Day Trip

It is best to start your trip early in the morning. The drive is long, so an early departure helps you enjoy more time in the blue city Chefchaouen without rushing.

Bring enough cash with you. Many small shops, cafés, and local restaurants do not accept credit cards. Cash is also useful for entrance fees, drinks, and small purchases in the medina.

The best time to visit is during spring and autumn. These seasons have pleasant weather, clear skies, and comfortable temperatures for walking. Summer can be hot, while winter can be cool and rainy.

Wear comfortable shoes because the medina has many small hills and cobblestone streets. You will walk a lot during the day, so light clothing and comfortable footwear are important.

Keep your camera or phone ready because there are photo spots everywhere. The blue streets, doors, and mountain views make Chefchaouen very photogenic.

It is also a good idea to bring a light jacket, especially in the morning or evening, as the weather in the Rif Mountains can change quickly.

Always respect local culture and people while taking photos, especially in residential areas of the medina.
