Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Arrive in Marrakech, the city of vibrant colors and fascinating history. You will be transferred to your hotel or riad, where you can relax after your journey. In the evening, visit the famous Jemaa el-Fna Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy the lively atmosphere, traditional performances, and local street food.
Day 2: Marrakech City Tour
Start your day with a guided city tour of Marrakech. Explore the stunning Bahia Palace, the intricately designed Saadian Tombs, and the Koutoubia Mosque. Wander through the bustling souks and enjoy shopping for traditional Moroccan crafts. Spend the night in Marrakech.
Day 3: Marrakech → Ait Benhaddou → Ouarzazate
After breakfast, depart for the High Atlas Mountains. Cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and reach Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO-listed kasbah, which has been the backdrop for many famous films such as Gladiator. Continue to Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Sahara”. Explore the film studios and the Taourirt Kasbah before overnighting in Ouarzazate.
Day 4: Ouarzazate → Skoura → Dades Valley
Drive through the Valley of the Roses, stopping at the palm groves of Skoura. Then continue to the beautiful Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations. Visit the famous Monkey Fingers and explore the valley before spending the night in a local guesthouse.
Day 5: Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Merzouga (Sahara Desert)
After breakfast, head to Todra Gorge, a stunning natural wonder where the cliffs rise sharply on both sides. Continue to Merzouga, the starting point of your Sahara adventure. In the evening, embark on a camel trek into the Erg Chebbidunes. Spend the night in a traditional desert camp under the stars.
Day 6: Explore the Sahara Desert
Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the desert dunes. Spend the day exploring the desert, visiting local nomadic villages, and experiencing traditional Berber life. You can also enjoy a variety of desert activities such as quad biking and sandboarding. Return to your desert camp for a relaxing night.
Day 7: Merzouga → Ziz Valley → Midelt
Leave the desert and travel through the Ziz Valley, known for its vast palm groves. Stop in a local village for lunch and continue to Midelt, a town nestled in the Middle Atlas Mountains, for an overnight stay.
Day 8: Midelt → Ifrane → Fès
Depart from Midelt and pass through the Ifrane region, famous for its Swiss-like architecture and lush landscapes. Continue to Fès, one of the oldest and most culturally rich cities in Morocco. Spend the night in a traditional riad in the heart of the Fès medina.
Day 9: Guided Tour of Fès
Experience a full-day guided tour of Fès, visiting the Al-Qarawiyyin University, the oldest university in the world, and explore the narrow, winding streets of the Fès el-Bali medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the Chouara Tannery and admire the intricate craftsmanship of Moroccan artisans.
Day 10: Fès → Marrakech
After breakfast, drive back to Marrakech. Upon arrival, you’ll have some free time for last-minute shopping or sightseeing before your departure. Transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
